What a non-woven fabric manufacturer actually does
Non-woven fabric is made without weaving or knitting. Loose staple fibers are opened, carded into a web, layered, and bonded into a sheet. NW Fabrics bonds mechanically, by needle punching: thousands of barbed needles pass through the web and drag fibers up and down through it until they lock together. No binders, no resins, no adhesives, no melt bonding.
That matters to a buyer for two reasons. A needle-punched fabric is thicker and more open than a spunbond or point-bond fabric of the same weight, so it drapes, insulates, absorbs and passes air or water better. And because nothing is glued, what you receive is only the fibers you specified.

What it is used for
Mattress and upholstered furniture fire barrier
Our Safe-Shield line is a needle-punched FR barrier used by mattress manufacturers to meet 16 CFR 1633 (open flame) and 16 CFR 1632 (cigarette ignition), and by furniture makers under 16 CFR 1640. We provide complimentary 16 CFR 1633 open-flame testing to manufacturing partners qualifying a prototype.
